CHALLENGE
govt logo Federal agencies collect and distribute data in myriad standalone formats. But existing data tools do not allow statisticians to do simultaneous study of multiple, inter-related variables, and existing graphic displays aren't sophisticated enough to help users understand regional trends and anomalies in the data.

RESEARCH
qg research images Together, they explore methods of parsing massive, national-level multivariate data sets. They weigh government analysis and presentation needs, analyze the characteristics of federal datasets generated by multiple agencies for different purposes, and design engines for sorting, integrating, displaying and simultaneously analyzing the data at multiple geographic scales.
RESULTS
qg software The federal partners now have a dynamic cartographic toolset for complex data analysis and web-based presentation. They can do coarse and fine analysis of multiple datasets such as rainfall, poverty and cancer rates, exploring their potential interactions on local, regional and national maps.
